The Thailand Elite Visa is a long-term visa given to privileged members. The Thailand Elite Visa is categorized under Tourist Visa (Privilege Entry Visa “PE”). It allows for uninterrupted residency in Thailand along with certain benefits for a period between 5, 10, 15 or 20 years. There are several packages to choose from and as you may imagine an affordable membership fee. Because the visa is in fact a tourist visa you are not able to get a work permit and therefore you are not permitted to work in Thailand. This does not mean that you cannot work outside of Thailand.
What You Need To Know About The Thailand Privilege Visa
The Thailand Privilege Visa is a 5-year renewable multiple entry visa with an extendable 1-year length of stay per each entry. The holder can have an uninterrupted stay in Thailand without the usual need to leave the country every 90 days. The Visa holder will be represented by the Thai Elite staff on the 90-day reporting as required by the Thai Immigration. Another perk for Thailand Privilege Visa holders is that they will receive expedited immigration formalities when arriving in Thailand. There are pathways available for holders of Thailand Elite Visa members.
The following nationalities cannot apply for the Thailand Elite visa;
From Asia: North Korea, Afghanistan, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka
From Middle East: Algeria, Iraq, Egypt, Iran, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Syria, Yemen
From Africa: Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan.
Application fees (Non Refundable):
Gold Membership - For 5 years residence validity : THB 900,000
Platinum Membership - For 10 years residence validity : THB 1,500,000
Diamond Membership - For 15 years residence validity : THB 2,500,000
Reserve Membership (invitation only) - For 20 years residence validity : THB 5,000,000
Qualifications & Documentation
The application for the Thailand Privilege Visa can be processed online or through our office in Thailand. All necessary documents stated below must be submitted to either online or through our office.
Qualifications;
- Holder of a foreign passport
- Being allowed to stay in Thailand in accordance with the immigration laws, which means the applicant has no overstay record in Thailand
- No age limit is required for this program
- Not having been sentenced by a judgment to imprisonment in any countries except for an offense committed to negligence
- Not having been adjudicated bankrupt
- Not having been declared as a person of unsound mind, incompetence, or quasi-incompetence
Documentation;
- Copy of each applicant’s passport biodata page, signed by the applicant*
- Copy of birth certificate**
- Copy of marriage certificate**
- Passport-size photo or digital photo not exceeding 2 MB***
Special Note * The passport must have a minimum validity of six months and three blank pages
Special Note ** This is only required for family applications to prove the relationship to the main applicant
Special Note *** Photo requirement : one each (3cm x 4cm) in size; neutral color background; no-teeth smile; straight, facing the camera; no sunglasses; proper attire
All documents must be translated into English where applicable and such translations must be notarized.
Thailand Privilege Visa Application Process
Step 1. Application for Membership and Background Check
You can apply for the Thailand Privilege Visa whether you are in Thailand or abroad. All you need to do is to send a soft copy of your passport and application form to an accredited Thai Privilege Visa agent. Then, the agent will work with the Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Bureau to do immigration and criminal background check. The process may take 1 month for most nationalities and up to 3 months for special countries. A deposit of 50,000 THB is requested.
Step 2. Transfer of Membership Fee
When the applicant has passed a background check and the application has been approved, the applicant will be instructed to transfer the membership fee. The membership fee ranges from 900,000 Thai baht to 5 million Thai baht depending on the membership package the applicant has applied for. The payment for the membership fee can be made through a bank transfer.
Step 3. Membership Acceptance
After completing the payment or bank transfer, the applicant will receive the Membership ID and instruction on how to receive the visa.
Step 4. Visa Issuance
The Thai Privilege member can affix the Thai Privilege visa at the Thai embassy or consulate in his/her respective country. The applicant has to drop his/her passport and come back to collect it on another day at the Thai embassy. If it is not convenient for the applicant to apply through the Thai embassy, it is also possible that the applicant obtains the Thai Privilege Visa upon arrival in Thailand at Suvarnabhumi Airport. In case that the Thai Privilege member is in Thailand, the Thai Privilege agent may arrange the visa issuance at the Immigration Bureau in Bangkok.
Important Reminders For Thailand Privilege Visa Holders
90-day Reporting
For security purposes, a 90 day report is considered as a mandatory obligation for all foreigners living in Thailand, thus they need to either physically present themselves at the Immigration Bureau or report online. Holders of the Thailand Privilege Visa that live in Bangkok, may deliver their passport to the Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd. office, and their service representative will take care of everything for them. When the process is complete the holder can collect their passport from the office. No additional costs are incurred.
Re-entry Permit
No re-entry permit is required if you are a Thailand Privilege Visa Holder.
Bank Account
Thailand Privilege Visa Holders can open a bank account in Thailand. Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd. has all the details and they will assist you again Free of Charge.
