Getting Married In Thailand

Steps Required To Get Married In Thailand

Step 1 - Foreigners who want to get married in Thailand must first obtain clearance from their respective Embassy. This must be done in Thailand. If your country of origin does not have an Embassy in Thailand we will need to change the process so please contact us to get more information of what needs to be done.

Clearance means that you have to make an appointment with your Embassy here in Thailand and then go and request a "Freedom To Marry" Affidavit in English. Once you have that affidavit you bring it to us and we will take care of the next steps.

Step 2 - The team at Professional Corporate Services will professionally translate the Affidavit you supplied and then make an appointment with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), to certify the translation and the document. This process takes apprximately 3-5 days to complete.

Step 3 - Once the documents have returned from MOFA our team will assemble the entire file and bring it to the Local District Office. They will need to Validate all the documents and then confirm to us a date that you can get married. It will usually be one to two days later.

Step 4 - Marriage Registration Day, when we all visit the District Office and the happy couple signs their marriage registration forms and becomes officially married. The District Office will supply you with your marriage license and a certified translation. We will supply 2 witnesses if you cannot supply your own.
